Bicycle Sizing & Fit Workshop

Saturday, February 24th, 7:15pm-8:30pm, Aksarben Shop

One of the most important elements of cycling is having the correct size bike and then having that bike’s contact points adjusted to your body, specifically. There are three touch points, the components on the bike that your body physically touches: handlebars (hands), saddle (seat), and pedals (feet).

Join us for a Sizing Workshop at our Aksarben Shop on Saturday, February 24th, from 7:15pm-8:30pm! We’ll be discussing bike sizing, finding the correct frame size, vs bike fit, dialing your bike in to fit your body, and why those two aspects are so important to ensuring a good experience on your rides.

We will also be going over the different components that affect your ride. For example, the wrong size or angle of the stem might mean that you feel as though you’re falling forward on your bike or could result in neck/upper back pain. Soreness, stiffness, fatigue, and numbness are all effects of improper sizing and bike fit.

Bring any questions you may have as we’ll have time for Q&A at the end of our presentation. We’re looking forward to seeing you!

Leap Year Group Ride!

Thursday, February 29th, 6:00pm-7:30pm, Bob Kerrey Bridge

Join the Greenstreet Crew for a paved group ride to celebrate the Leap Year! (Really, we're just using it as an excuse to ride bikes!) This will be a social ride, so we'll be going at a casual pace. The ride will be right at 13 miles and is mostly flat - the bridge is the biggest hill we'll be facing!

Try to arrive by 5:45pm so you can unload your bike and gear up! Leaving from the Bob Kerrey Bridge promptly at 6pm and crossing over the BK Bridge to the Riverfront Trail and then around and through southern Council Bluffs before heading back to the bridge. There will be some road riding, but our route will take us mainly on paved trails.

Helmets and front/rear lights are required. Bring a filled water bottle.

We'll be keeping an eye on the weather and will update ASAP if there are any changes!

Greenstreet March Ladies Gathering!

Sunday, March 3rd, 5:30pm-7:00pm, Papillion Shop

Ladies! We've had a lot of great feedback from you at both of our Ladies Gatherings, and one of your suggestions was that we host this event again! Absolutely!!

This gathering is for all ladies that like to ride bikes! Come hang out and get to know other lady riders, talk about what rides or races you are looking forward to in 2024, and have some light snacks while you check out the shop.

We're looking forward to seeing you!

International Women's Day Group Ride!

Saturday, March 9th, 10:30am-12:00pm, Aksarben

International Women's Day is March 8th! Greenstreet Ladies are celebrating with a Group Ride on Saturday, March 9th, at 10:30am. Since everyone should be celebrating Women, EVERYONE is invited : )

So, bring your family, friends, neighbors, and even your pets if you've got a pet trailer or pack and we'll see you there!

We'll be leaving from the Greenstreet shop in Aksarben and will be riding on mostly paved trails from the shop to Democracy Park and then back to Aksarben. There will be a few street crossings at crosswalks and very minimal road riding to get from the shop to the Keystone Trail. This will be a casual-paced ride, and we're planning on 11-12 miles with a quick water break at the turnaround point.

After the ride we'll head over to the Inner Rail for lunch, drinks, whatever, or just to hang out and talk about the ride and whatever else is on your mind : ) If you aren't up for the ride but would still like to visit, meet us at the Inner Rail at 12pm!

Helmets are required, lights are strongly encouraged. Bring a filled water bottle. It's Nebraska, so we'll be keeping an eye on the weather and trail conditions! If it is snowing, sleeting, raining, or if the trails are snow/ice covered - we will plan on bypassing the ride and will head straight to the Inner Rail instead.

We'll be sure to keep everyone updated so keep an eye out for posts : )

St. Patrick's Day Gravel Group Ride Beginner Friendly!

Sunday, March 17th, 5:30pm-7:00pm, Walnut Creek

Join us for a Gravel Ride led by Jenni, our Shop Manager!

This is a Beginner Friendly Gravel Ride! If you have never ridden gravel before and you'd like to give it a try, or if you have been on a shorter gravel ride and want to try a slightly longer one, this ride is for you : )

We are planning on 12~ miles of Sarpy County gravel, with a small amount of pavement and some crushed limestone on a section of the MoPac. This will be a No-Drop ride at a casual pace. We will have re-grouping stops along the way for water breaks and a moment to catch your breath when you need to because some of those hills can be tough!

We'll be starting from the gravel parking lot at Walnut Creek Recreation Area. Take Schram Road between 96th and 108th Streets, turn north on Turkey Road (into the park), then it's the first lot on the right before you get to the boat docks. If you get to the docks, just turn around and it will be the only turn on your left before you exit the park. There's a restroom there if needed!

Helmets and front and rear lights are REQUIRED. Sunset will be about 7:30pm. Bring 1-2 filled water bottles.
